Constable Country, Essex and Suffolk
Here in Colchester we are so lucky to be only a few miles from an area of outstanding natural beauty that is Dedham. Otherwise known as Constable Country, Dedham is situated on the border of Essex and Suffolk. It is refered to as Constable Country because John Constable was born here and famously painted various landscape scenes around the area.
Dedham and Flatford Mill are made up of large flat fields with the River Stour flowing through them, surrounded by beautiful chocolate-box villages. You can hire a rowing boat to take out along the river on a lovely summers day, past the ducks and cows or take a stroll along the waters edge. The architecture is mainly from the 16th century so is full of character and interest as you stop by the tea house for a scone.
This idyllic landscape is the perfect place to have your portraits done. We have used the setting for family portraits, individual portraits and maternity portraits – there is plenty of room for children to run about and have fun and lots of amazing photo oportunities to be had.
Wedding portraits can also be photographed here as there is enough space to find a secluded area away from other visitors. Maison Talbooth is a popular wedding venue just round the corner from this stunning location so we would encourage you to add some time into your schedule to drive down to the river for your portraits.
As it is not far from Colchester, we believe it is completely worth the journey to Dedham to create photographs worth framing.
